Fri, 24 June 2005 First off, check out our brand new website at www.greenroomradio.com. The site was designed by Chris over at pixellex.com. It looks great, go check it out.
Moving on.
Our newest show is a biggie. For over an hour, get an inside look to the world of Musical Theatre Cast Recordings. What is a cast recording, you ask? A cast recording is a recorded version of some sort of stage play. Be it Broadway, or very very off-Broadway. Be it straight play or mega-musical, the cast recording is a souvenir as well as an art form. It is, however, an art form, that with live theatre itself, is having a much harder time being commercially successful.
Be that as it may, there is more than hope. Two wonderful record labels, PS Classics and Ghostlight Records (part of Sh-K-Boom Records) have gone places that no giant music label dare go. Not only are these labels preserving musical theatre scores beautifully, but they are taking the business in a whole new direction. On the show we feature interviews with both Tommy Kraser, and Kurt Deutch, the presidents of PS Classics, and Ghostlight Records, respectively.
Also on the show is Michael Portaintiere, from Theatermania.com. They have just published the wonderful Theatermania.com Guide To Musical Theater Recordings. Michael also edited the guide, and he spoke to us about how such a book is put together. Comments[37] |
